Ski Touring Patagonia

Physical Condition

Unlike alpine skiing where you only make an activity on the descent, ski touring demands a very good physical condition in order to climb up and down the mountains. If you practice mountaineering, you already know the physical effort climbing mountains for hours can take. If you do not, you should prepare yourself for this activity with specific training.
If this is be your first ski touring experience, or you are not sure about your fitness level, let us know in order to offer you a positive experience skiing in El Chalten, Patagonia Argentina.

The weather & snow conditions at El Chaltén

The weather conditions in El Chaltén are very unstable and unpredictable. Success will always depend in great measure on the climatic factors and the snow conditions. You must be prepared for “wild” weather conditions and accept that will do our best to achieve your goals. In some cases, we might need to take one extra day to improve the chances of a successful trip.

Our Mountain Guides will have the final call to modify either partially or totally any program when safety conditions require.

Personal Equipment Required

Having good equipment makes a big difference when the weather or snow conditions are not “ideal”. We highly recommend bringing your own personal ski touring equipment. Check the equipment list required with your specific program.
